IT and Non-IT Recruitment Solutions in India for Employers
A hiring manager once explained the problem to us in a single sentence: "My agency sends me great developers and plant engineers who have never seen a plant."
That is more common than you might expect. Many companies hire for both kinds of roles in the same quarter, such as a backend developer for the Pune office and a production planning manager for the plant in Chakan. They hand both to the same agency, and the agency runs the same process for both. That approach works reasonably well for the developer but rarely for the plant role.
Good recruitment solutions in India begin by accepting that IT and non-IT hiring are different jobs, even when one company is doing both. Below, we look at where the two differ, where they overlap in awkward ways, and how we handle each at Career Choice Solution.
Hiring for tech and non-tech roles together?

They Don't Even Find Candidates the Same Way
Finding an IT candidate is easy. Getting them to join is the hard part.
Most of them are on LinkedIn. Recruiters from four other companies probably contacted them this month. Notice periods often run to 90 days, and in that time a counter-offer can arrive and undo everything. We have seen candidates accept an offer in February and quietly stay with their current employer in April.
Non-IT hiring works almost the other way round. A plant head in Hosur or a CA at a mid-sized firm in Thane may not have updated their LinkedIn profile in years. They move jobs through referrals, former bosses, and industry contacts. They are hard to find. Once you do find them, and the location and family situation make sense, they tend to join and stay.
Use the same process for both, and you will be quick in one market and get nowhere in the other.
Tech Hiring: Every Resume Looks Right
Most IT hiring in India happens in a handful of areas, including Outer Ring Road and Whitefield in Bengaluru, HITEC City in Hyderabad, Hinjewadi and Kharadi in Pune, OMR in Chennai, and the Gurugram and Noida belts. GCCs are now adding to demand in all of them.
The difficulty is that every resume lists the right skills. Keywords reveal very little. What matters is a recruiter who can ask a developer why they chose one approach over another and recognize when the answer has been rehearsed.
City-level salary bands matter too. A senior engineer in Bengaluru and one in Coimbatore are not priced the same, and offers that ignore this usually fail.
Discuss counter-offers before making the offer, not after. Many failed IT hires could have been prevented by asking one question: "If your manager matches this, what do you do?"
Non-IT Hiring: Usually About Life, Not Skills
The non-IT category is much broader. It includes plant heads in Chakan and Sanand, quality engineers in Sriperumbudur, chemists in Taloja and Vadodara, bank branch managers in Thrissur and Lucknow, FMCG sales teams covering Bihar and Odisha from Kolkata, and finance controllers in Mumbai.
Skill gaps are rarely what derail these hires. Life circumstances usually do. A quality manager may be ideal for your Hosur plant but unwilling to move his daughter in the middle of Class 10. A regional sales head may like the role and dislike the territory.
So the first conversation should be about family, schooling, and travel. Salary comes later.
Certifications still matter. GMP exposure, IATF audit experience, and safety licenses need to be verified rather than assumed, but they are seldom the reason an offer falls through.
The Roles Nobody Owns
Some of the hardest positions to fill don't fit cleanly into either category.
Think of an SAP PP consultant for a cement plant or an MES engineer for an auto assembly line. Consider a data analyst at an FMCG company who also needs to understand distributor margins or a bank's cybersecurity lead who will spend as much time with regulators as with firewalls.
An IT recruiter tends to assess the technical skills and miss the business context. A non-IT recruiter tends to do the reverse. Our approach is to have two recruiters screen together: one tests the technical side, and the other checks whether the candidate understands how the plant or business actually runs. It takes more effort, but it produces hires that last.
One Agency or Two?
Plenty of companies use one vendor for IT hiring and another for everything else. That works, but it means two contracts, two invoicing cycles, and two sets of replacement terms. And the in-between roles often fall through the gaps because each vendor assumes the other is handling them.
One partner with separate desks under a single agreement is usually simpler. Just make sure the desks are actually separate. Ask to meet the recruiters. If the same person is handling your Java developers and your plant engineers, you have one desk, whatever the proposal says.
How We Do It at Career Choice Solution
We have been recruiting since 2016, from our office in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai; our branch in Delhi NCR; and our team in Hyderabad. That adds up to more than 12,400 placements for over 3,000 companies.
On the IT side, we recruit developers, QA engineers, cloud and data specialists, SAP consultants, and GCC teams for clients such as Tech Mahindra, DSPACE, and ACE Technologies. On the non-IT side, we work across manufacturing, engineering, pharma, diagnostics, FMCG, cement, steel, and retail, with clients including Tata Motors, UltraTech, L&T, Dabur, Aditya Birla Group, Metropolis, and Bluestar.
EV and automotive is where much of our in-between work happens, since so many of those roles combine technical and plant knowledge. We handle permanent recruitment, contract staffing, bulk hiring, and executive search. Every permanent placement comes with a 90-day replacement guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions
Summary: What really is the contrast between IT and non-IT enrollment?
IT talent is available, but competitors and extended notice periods make it more difficult to lock down. Non-IT talent takes longer, but most 'settle in' after addressing location and family issues.
Can one agency do both well?
Yes, if they have distinct desks for various recruiters. Have a face-to-face with those recruiters before you sign.
What non-IT positions have the slowest time-to-fill?
The jobs that will take the longest to report, the plant management jobs, quality heads with auditing experience, and jobs that require moving to industrial towns can generally expect six to 10 weeks.
How about jobs that combine industry know-how and technology?
Get a couple of recruiters in a room at the same time: one for technical skills and one for the business case. Roles in manufacturing or FMCG with SAP, MES, and analytics positions are best for this.
